Cerebral autoregulation in pre-eclampsia

Biography

I am a consultant obstetrician gynaecologist in clinical practice at Tygerberg Hospital a large tertiary centre based in Cape Town, as well as a senior lecturer at Stellenbosch University. I am involved in coordination of new curriculum development for the 2nd year medical students as well as management of intern training in the department. Training and teaching of registrars as well as assisting with specialist exam preparations and MMed supervision.

I have a keen interest in maternal care and specifically pre-eclampsia. I currently assist with research related to cerebral autoregulation in pre-eclampsia and plan to embark on a joint PhD in this field via Stellenbosch University together with Gothenburg University. I have received the national award from the South African association for training obstetrician gynaecologist for best research presentation for my master’s degree in 2021 and look forward to many years of interesting research together with my supervisors Associate Professor’s Cathy Cluver and Lina Bergman, with the aim to better predict and prevent morbidity in this vulnerable group of women.
