Biography

Ahmed A. Abulfathi is a Lecturer in the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, University of Maiduguri, Nigeria, a Clinical Pharmacologist and PhD candidate at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, and Researcher at the Arctic University (UiT), Norway.

Ahmed is a clinician with experience spanning over a decade, and has in the past 6 years, been involved in clinical research including clinical trials conducted in South Africa. He acquired further research skills as a visiting scholar to Pharmacometrics group, Uppsala University, Sweden and as a Next Generation Scientist, with Novartis Pharma/University of Basel, Switzerland. He is passionate about using pharmacometrics methods to advance science to improve individualized patient care and global health.

Ahmed is an examiner with the College of Clinical Pharmacologists of South Africa, Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. He is a member of the Education Committee of the American College of Clinical Pharmacologists and a member of PanACEA core Clinical Pharmacology team, which is, supported by grant from European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) 2 supported by the European Union. Ahmed is also a faculty member at Pharmacometrics Africa.

He has won grants and awards including Chevron/NNPC undergraduate scholarship, PanACEA postgraduate scholarship, HD Brede award for the best postgraduate research in infectious diseases (clinical category), SASBCP best podium award in Clinical Pharmacology (1st Prize), and several travel and publication incentive grants.
